For HVAC, a common rule is 20 BTU per cubic foot, so that room needs about 27,000 BTU (~2.25 tons). Airflow (CFM) = volume × ACH ÷ 60, using about 0.35 ACH for living spaces and 8 ACH for kitchens and baths. Convert to cubic meters by multiplying cubic feet by 0.02832.

- Measure to the inside face of walls — baseboard and trim are inside the room, not part of the wall thickness.
- Use a laser distance measurer for accuracy — they’re fast and eliminate tape-measure sag.
