General

General questions

What is HomezCalc?

HomezCalc is a free online calculator platform for home improvement, construction, and project budgeting. It covers materials such as gravel, concrete, mulch, sand, and paint, plus planning tools for rooms, flooring, and costs.

Every core calculator is free, requires no account, and has no usage limit. A paid Premium plan is optional and adds saved cloud projects, PDF and Excel export, and an ad-free experience.

Are HomezCalc calculators free to use?

Yes. Every HomezCalc calculator is free, requires no account, and has no usage limit. There are no paywalls on results and no hidden fees.

Premium is optional at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year and only unlocks extras such as unlimited saved projects, PDF and Excel export, and an ad-free experience. Cancelling Premium never removes access to the free calculators.

Do I need an account to use HomezCalc calculators?

No. All HomezCalc calculators work without an account or sign-up. You only need one if you want to save projects to the cloud, sync calculations across devices, or manage a Premium subscription.

Free local saving is available in every calculator and stores your inputs in your browser without any account.

Which measurement systems does HomezCalc support?

HomezCalc supports both Imperial and Metric. Imperial uses feet, inches, US short tons, and cubic yards. Metric uses metres, centimetres, metric tonnes, and cubic metres.

You can switch systems at any time and every dimension you have already entered converts automatically, so you can compare supplier quotes in either unit without re-entering data.

Does HomezCalc work on mobile phones and tablets?

Yes. Every HomezCalc calculator and page is fully responsive and tested on current iOS and Android devices as well as desktop browsers. The interactive 3D viewer supports touch controls for rotation and zoom on mobile.

Layouts adapt down to 320-pixel screens, and input fields use mobile-friendly numeric keypads for fast dimension entry on site.

Calculators & Accuracy

Calculators and accuracy

How accurate are HomezCalc calculators?

HomezCalc uses industry-standard formulas and material density ranges verified against supplier data, which makes results accurate for planning and budgeting. Real-world yield typically varies by up to about 15 percent because of supplier grading, moisture content, compaction, and site conditions.

Always confirm final order quantities with your supplier before purchasing. Our Gravel Calculator and other material tools let you override density so you can match your supplier’s specification exactly.

Why does the HomezCalc result differ from my supplier’s estimate?

Differences usually come from four variables: material density, moisture content, compaction percentage, and whether the supplier quotes by volume or by weight.

HomezCalc exposes density, compaction, waste, and settlement as editable fields, so you can enter your supplier’s exact figures and reproduce their number. Matching the supplier’s density typically closes most of the gap.

Do HomezCalc calculators include waste and compaction allowances?

Yes. Advanced mode includes separate fields for compaction, waste, settlement, and safety margin. Defaults are 20 percent compaction, 8 percent waste, and 5 percent settlement, all adjustable from 0 to 50 percent.

Each allowance is shown individually in the results breakdown so you can see exactly how much extra material each one adds to your order.

Why are some HomezCalc results shown in tons and others in cubic yards?

Aggregate and bulk materials are usually sold by weight in tons or tonnes, but calculated by volume in cubic yards or cubic metres. HomezCalc converts between the two using the selected material’s density and displays both figures side by side.

This lets you compare a by-the-yard quote against a by-the-ton quote without doing the math yourself.

How to Use

How to use a HomezCalc calculator

Six steps, about three minutes, and you have a complete material estimate with cost.

  1. Choose a calculator. Open the tool that matches your project — for example the Gravel Calculator, Concrete Calculator, or Mulch Calculator.
  2. Select your measurement system. Pick Imperial (feet, inches, cubic yards, US tons) or Metric (metres, centimetres, cubic metres, tonnes). You can switch at any time and entered values convert automatically.
  3. Enter your project dimensions. Choose the shape that matches your project — rectangle, circle, triangle, trapezoid, L-shape, ring, or trench — then enter the required length, width, and depth measurements.
  4. Configure allowances. In Advanced mode, set compaction, waste, settlement, and safety percentages, or leave the sensible defaults in place. You can also add deductions for trees, pavers, drains, and planters.
  5. Click Calculate. The results panel shows net area, order volume, material weight, bag counts, and an optional full cost breakdown with delivery, labour, and accessories.
  6. Save or export your result. Save locally for free in your browser, or save to your account and export a PDF or Excel report with Premium.
Premium & Pricing

Premium plans and pricing

What does a HomezCalc Premium subscription include?

Premium includes unlimited saved projects, multi-room and multi-area planning, professional PDF and Excel export, an ad-free experience, and priority email support. All free calculators stay free whether or not you subscribe.

Premium is designed for contractors, landscapers, and repeat DIYers who need to save, reopen, and export estimates across multiple jobs or devices.

How much does HomezCalc Premium cost?

HomezCalc Premium costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, which works out to roughly 17 percent savings on the annual plan. Both plans renew automatically until cancelled.

Current pricing is always listed on the pricing page. There is no setup fee, no contract, and no cancellation charge.

Is there a free trial for HomezCalc Premium?

Premium can be trialled through the monthly plan at $4.99, which you may cancel at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep full Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.

There is no separate trial period, so you are never charged automatically after a free window ends.

What happens to my saved projects if I cancel Premium?

Your saved projects stay in your account and remain viewable after cancellation. Creating new cloud projects, multi-room planning, and PDF or Excel export become unavailable once the subscription ends.

If you resubscribe later, full access to your existing projects is restored immediately. Local browser saves are unaffected either way.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly billing?

Yes. You can switch between monthly and yearly billing from your account dashboard. The change takes effect at your next renewal date and there is no switching fee.

Switching to yearly mid-cycle is the fastest way to save roughly 17 percent, and the remaining value of your monthly period is applied at renewal.

Billing & Refunds

Billing, cancellation, and refunds

How do I cancel my HomezCalc Premium subscription?

Cancel any time from your account dashboard, or email contact@homezcalc.com with the subject line “Cancellation”. Monthly and yearly plans stop renewing at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Premium access until that date.

Cancellation requests sent by email are processed within one business day. There is no cancellation fee.

What is the HomezCalc refund policy?

Yearly Premium subscriptions include a 14-day money-back guarantee from the purchase or renewal date. Monthly subscriptions are generally non-refundable, except for billing errors, duplicate charges, or verified technical faults that prevented access.

Full details, including how to request a refund, are on the Refund Policy page.

How long does a HomezCalc refund take to appear?

Approved refunds are issued by Paddle to your original payment method. Card refunds typically take 5 to 10 business days depending on your card issuer, while PayPal refunds usually take 3 to 5 business days.

You receive a confirmation email from Paddle when the refund has been issued, and refund requests are answered within 2 business days.

Who processes payments on HomezCalc?

Payments are processed by Paddle, HomezCalc’s Merchant of Record. Paddle handles card data securely under PCI DSS requirements, issues invoices and receipts, and processes approved refunds back to your original payment method.

HomezCalc never stores your full card details on its own servers. Paddle also provides order support if you prefer to contact them directly.

Can I get an invoice or receipt for my HomezCalc purchase?

Yes. Paddle emails a receipt with every payment, usually within minutes of the charge. You can also download invoices from the Paddle order support portal linked in that confirmation email.

If you need a receipt re-sent or a VAT or tax invoice, email contact@homezcalc.com and we will arrange it within 1 to 2 business days.

Will my HomezCalc subscription renew automatically?

Yes. Both monthly and yearly Premium plans renew automatically until cancelled. If you do not want another billing period, cancel before your renewal date.

Cancelling after a renewal has been processed does not automatically trigger a refund beyond the 14-day yearly guarantee, so it is worth setting a reminder before your renewal date.

I was charged twice by HomezCalc. What should I do?

Email contact@homezcalc.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and include the email address on your account plus both transaction IDs from your payment confirmations. Duplicate charges are refunded in full.

Refund requests are answered within 2 business days, and the refund itself reaches your card in 5 to 10 business days.

Projects & Exports

Saved projects and exports

Can I save my HomezCalc calculations and come back to them later?

Yes. Every calculator has a Save Locally option that stores your inputs in your browser for free and restores the last calculation you were working on.

Premium subscribers can additionally save unlimited named projects to their account and reopen them from any device, which is useful for contractors managing multiple jobs or clients.

Can I export HomezCalc results as PDF or Excel?

PDF and Excel export are Premium features available from the results panel of any calculator. Free users can still copy a complete text summary of any result to the clipboard and paste it into a document, spreadsheet, or email.

The copied summary includes the net area, order volume, weight, and the full cost breakdown.

Why do my saved HomezCalc projects disappear when I clear my browser?

Locally saved calculations are stored in your browser’s local storage, not on our servers. Clearing browsing data, using private or incognito mode, or switching browsers removes them.

To keep projects permanently and sync across devices, save them to a free HomezCalc account, which requires a Premium subscription for cloud storage.

Is there a limit to how many HomezCalc projects I can save?

Local browser saving has no explicit project limit beyond your browser’s available storage, which is typically several megabytes. Premium accounts have unlimited cloud project storage.

If you regularly work on more than a handful of active jobs, cloud saving is the more reliable option because it is not tied to a single device or browser.

Can I share a saved HomezCalc project with someone else?

Yes. Premium subscribers can export any saved project as a PDF to share by email or print for a client, and each project includes a shareable summary.

For team access or multiple seats, email contact@homezcalc.com with the subject line “Business” to discuss volume and multi-user options.

Account & Privacy

Account and privacy

Do I need an account to use HomezCalc Premium features?

Yes. Cloud project saving, multi-room planning, and export history are tied to a HomezCalc account so your work is available on any device you sign in from. Creating the account is free; the Premium subscription is what unlocks the paid features.

Without an account, only local browser saving is available.

How do I reset my HomezCalc password?

Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page and we will email you a reset link, usually within a few minutes. If the email does not arrive, check your spam or promotions folder first.

If it is still missing after 15 minutes, email contact@homezcalc.com and we will resolve it within 1 to 2 business days.

How do I delete my HomezCalc account and personal data?

Email contact@homezcalc.com with the subject line “Delete My Account”. We will confirm the request, cancel any active Premium subscription, and permanently delete your account data within 30 days in line with our Privacy Policy.

Deletion is irreversible, so export any PDF reports you want to keep before requesting it.

Does HomezCalc sell my data?

No. HomezCalc does not sell personal data to third parties. We collect only what is needed to operate the site and process subscriptions, such as your email address for account and billing purposes.

Full details on what is collected, why, and how long it is retained are in the Privacy Policy.

Do HomezCalc calculators use cookies?

Yes. HomezCalc uses essential cookies to keep the site working, such as remembering your unit preference and session state. Optional analytics cookies help us understand which calculators are used most so we can improve them.

You can control optional cookies through your browser settings or the consent banner where one is shown.

Is my HomezCalc calculation data private?

Calculations performed without an account are processed in your browser and are not tied to your identity. If you save a project to a Premium account, that project is stored in your account and visible only to you.

HomezCalc does not publish, sell, or share individual calculation data with third parties.
